Hey everyone, Sid here. Let’s talk about one of my favorite terpenes, Caryophyllene. If you’ve ever cracked open a jar and got hit with a sharp, peppery, spicy, and slightly woody aroma, that’s Caryophyllene doing its thing. It’s the exact same terpene that gives black pepper, cloves, and cinnamon their signature kick.
What really blows my mind about this one is how it interacts with our bodies. It’s pretty unusual among terpenes because it actually binds directly to CB2 receptors. Because of this unique trait, it’s often discussed for its potential anti-inflammatory properties (Source: Russo, E.B. (2011), British Journal of Pharmacology).
If you want to seek it out, some strains often high in Caryophyllene are Girl Scout Cookies, Sour Diesel, and Bubba Kush.
