🦥 A few things I found this week — chill and give these a read:
I was just reading about Snoop Dogg’s dad, Vernell Varnado, who is still hunting for the legendary Panama Red he first bought in a matchbox back in 1966 [See the full article on High Times](https://hightimes.com/culture/papa-snoop-vernell-varnado-panama-red-interview/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=papa-snoop-vernell-varnado-panama-red-interview). It really hit home for me because we have all this crazy, high-potency laboratory weed now, but we’re losing the classic landrace strains that actually started this whole culture. I'd love to see a real revival of those old-school genetics.
On a much better note for the little guys, New York is finally letting licensed microbusinesses sell weed directly at local farmers' markets [See the full article on High Times](https://hightimes.com/news/new-york-to-allow-weed-sales-at-farmers-markets-giving-small-growers-a-fighting-chance/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=new-york-to-allow-weed-sales-at-farmers-markets-giving-small-growers-a-fighting-chance). This is absolutely massive because small-batch growers have been getting squeezed out by massive corporate dispensaries, and getting to buy your bud right next to the organic tomatoes is exactly how community cannabis should work.
Honestly, with how hectic everything is lately, I keep thinking about that line from the new Cheech & Chong doc where they say cannabis should be mandatory for the "normie" world [See the full article on High Times](https://hightimes.com/culture/opinion-cannabis-should-be-mandatory-the-normie-world-needs-a-joint-more-than-anyone/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=opinion-cannabis-should-be-mandatory-the-normie-world-needs-a-joint-more-than-anyone). It's hilarious but so true—the world would be about eighty percent more chilled out if everyone just took a collective breath and shared a joint.
Are any of you guys actually finding real heirloom strains like Panama Red in your areas, or is it all just modern hybrids now? — Internet of Pot
