Daniel Arthur Jones, Waxy Brown to everyone who tuned in, was born August 28, 1977 in St. Louis. He served in the United States Navy from 1997 to 2005 as an intelligence photographer, with two tours in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

He came home to a state that would arrest him for the plant. Charged with distribution, he sat 256 days in a county jail waiting for trial. He walked out, ran for Rolla City Council, won, and pushed decriminalization from inside the room.

Every week Waxy Brown's Flower Power Hour went out on KKID 92.9 FM in Rolla and streamed around the world: two hours of straight talk on cannabis, veterans, psilocybin and sobriety. He drew a hard line between advocates and activists and told everyone to step across it. His legacy, in his own word, was action.

He was a published poet with two volumes to his name and a photographer with an eye for the moments that mattered. He passed on July 7, 2025 in Doolittle, Missouri. He is inductee No. 1 of the Green Wave Legends.

    Waxy is the first name that came to mind when we built this wall, and nobody else was close. He sat 256 days in a county cell for this plant and walked out louder than he went in, took a seat on the Rolla council, and gave the rest of us a voice every week on the Flower Power Hour.     I haven't met Waxy but I love to hear his story! We need more people like this. We lost a great crusader for the plant. He was not scared to be up on a podium fighting for the de prohibition of this plant. We need more people like Waxy. He is and inspiration to me so I will make sure to keep his memory alive. RIH
